Sidestreet Privacy Policy

Effective date: 30.10.2026

Sidestreet helps you record walks and explore your surroundings through location-based challenges. This policy explains what information Sidestreet processes, why it is needed, and how you can control it.

1. Who is responsible

Sidestreet is provided by:

Ole Wendt
Email: ole-wendt+sidestreet@simplelogin.co

You can use this email address for privacy questions and requests concerning your personal information.

2. Information processed by Sidestreet

Sidestreet processes the following information on your device:

This information is used to record and display walks, calculate statistics, show areas you have visited, generate challenges, detect when you approach a target, and provide proximity sounds.

Sidestreet does not require an account. It does not include advertising or third-party analytics SDKs, and it does not sell your personal information.

3. Location access

Sidestreet requests permission to access your location. Precise Location is needed for accurate route recording and nearby challenge targets.

During an active walk, Sidestreet continues receiving location updates when the app is in the background or your device is locked. Finishing or discarding the walk stops route recording. Map features may also use your location while you use the app.

You can change or revoke location permission, including Precise Location, in your device’s Settings. Without suitable permission, location-dependent features may be unavailable.

Revoking permission does not delete information already saved on your device.

4. Storage and access

Recorded walks, challenge information, and preferences are stored in Sidestreet’s local app storage.

Sidestreet does not upload your recorded walking routes or challenge history to a developer-operated server. The developer cannot remotely access your local app database.

Your device may include Sidestreet’s data in device or iCloud backups, depending on your settings. Backups are separate from Sidestreet’s active local storage and are managed through Apple’s services.

5. Apple Maps and Apple services

Sidestreet uses Apple’s MapKit framework to display maps and location-related content. Map functionality can communicate with Apple’s services. Apple may process information needed to provide those services under its own privacy terms.

For details, see Apple Maps & Privacy and Apple’s Privacy Policy.

Apple may also process information associated with App Store distribution, device backups, and diagnostics according to your settings and its own policies.

6. Retention and deletion

Saved walks, challenge information, and preferences have no automatic expiry in Sidestreet.

You can delete individual walks using the app’s walk history. Deleting a walk does not necessarily remove every separately stored challenge record or preference.

To remove Sidestreet’s complete local app database, delete the app using your device’s Delete App option. Offloading the app preserves its documents and data.

Deleting information from the app or deleting the app does not necessarily remove copies in existing backups. Backup retention and deletion are controlled through your device or backup provider. Restoring an older backup may restore previously saved information.

Because the developer does not hold a server-side copy of your routes, the developer cannot remotely retrieve or delete your local recordings.

7. Support requests and this website

If you contact the developer, the information you provide—such as your email address, message, and any attachments—is used to respond to your request. Please avoid sending location histories or other sensitive information unless needed to explain your issue.

Support messages are handled using Posteo and retained for 30 days.

The website hosting this policy is provided by Vercel Inc. For information about how Vercel processes visitor information, including technical data collected when you access this website, see Vercel’s Privacy Notice.

8. Legal bases and your rights

Where the General Data Protection Regulation applies, information necessary to provide features you request is processed to perform the service agreement with you under Article 6(1)(b). Support correspondence is processed under Article 6(1)(f), based on the legitimate interest in answering enquiries and resolving problems. Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing.

Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a portable copy of personal information, restrict processing, and object to processing based on legitimate interests.

You may contact the developer using the details above to exercise your rights. For information stored exclusively on your device, the developer may be unable to access it or act on it remotely.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a competent data protection supervisory authority.

9. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when Sidestreet’s features or data practices change. The current version will be available through the app’s Privacy Policy link and on this webpage. The effective date will identify the latest revision.
